Tea Ceremony Experience

Yuzen Dyeing Experience
Suribitta is a Kyoto Yuzen dyeing technique handed down since the Edo period, a method of pressing carved wooden blocks onto fabric to recreate the fine kanoko (fawn-spot) motif found in traditional shibori work.
At Kitamoto Sengei, a Kyoto Yuzen workshop, you'll apply this centuries-old process to an item of your choice:
a fukusa wrapping cloth, card case, sukiyabukuro pouch, or Kyoto-style bag.
Each finished piece is delivered to you approximately one month later.

Jijuin Temple — Self-Healing Ritual with Sutra Copying and Tea
At Jijuin, a temple rarely open to the public, guests are invited to experience jibun kuyō, a meditative ritual of offering prayers for one's own well-being. Settle into the stillness of the temple garden, trace a Buddhist sutra by hand, and close the visit with a quiet bowl of tea.

Mini Wagasa Making Experience
Hiyoshiya has been crafting wagasa — traditional Japanese umbrellas — in Kyoto since the late Edo period. At their workshop, you'll assemble a miniature wagasa approximately 30 cm in diameter, guided by artisans who have carried on centuries of craft. A tour of the workshop is also included.
